E-dutainment Unlimited . . . . . Bridging the Digital Divide

Creativity knows no language, caste, creed, and economic status- it is the spark within

E-dutainment Unlimited has been in the field of training and education in graphics, multimedia and animation since 2005. Students from all ages of 7 to 70 have undergone training here and found their way to mainstream industry. The dearth of technical training in quality multimedia has resulted in a severe shortage of multimedia professionals with the required skill levels. There is an urgent need to harness local talent, train them and create world-class work places and post production studios.

The real roadblock in India to achieve the world class standards is not the lack of training institutes for animations but the quality of training being imparted by these. Even the big name institutes are using this as a money minting opportunity, without giving industry relevant training through the network of their franchisees. In this kind of scenario “E-dutainment Unlimited” comes as a breath of fresh air to all the aspiring animators & graphic artists. Started by professionals, who gave up a lucrative career in the animation industry for their love for developing novices into full fledged multimedia professionals follows a novel and unique methodology. Assisted by a team of faculty who also work within this industry, E-dutainment Unlimited initiates the students into the wonderful world of creativity through computer applications. The focus here is on quality rather than the quantity. With project based learning style, students are focused on their creations and not on tools – and this is what differentiates the students of this institute in the industry.

Project “Sunhera Kal”

Children are the future of a nation and society at large. Creating a bright future for these children, who are not blessed like some others, is a responsibility of every citizen.

There is a large population of urban slum youth, who by some means have achieved a partial education and cannot meet higher growth due economic constraints or basic disinterest in future education. If left to themselves at this stage, they could further get frustrated and end up in activities which would either be a social menace or earn a living where they cannot support their families. Unfortunately, this partial education does not leave them with a choice to do menial chores and they do not fit into a bracket of employable youth. This target segment is one of the largest identifiable, specifically in urban slums.

Young children up to the age of 15 to 19 stepping into the real world to contribute to the family income and livelihood are the key focus group for this programme. When correctly selected, guided and a vocational training imparted, they can be absorbed in an industry with tremendous potential and distressing levels of talent currently available. A senior HR consultant has commented - “The issue is not of employment, it is one of unemployability.”

E-dutainment Unlimited has been working for past three years for the economic empowerment of urban slum youth by training them in Computer Graphics & Animation and then placing them in this booming industry. Project “Sunhera Kal” is envisaged to take care and transform these marginalized children to an independent adult, ready to take on to life and contribute to society to the best of his potential. The focus of “Sunhera Kal”, unlike other CSR programmes, is in realizing and unleashing the true potential of these children, rather than preparing them just to survive in life.

These economically deprived students were provided with training and found good placements due to the very high demand of the industry, which remains largely unfulfilled of quality trained personnel.

The decision to include children from economically challenged areas of society with the most pleasant results gave us the greatest satisfaction of being able to contribute to society in a meaningful way, apart from our regular students who contributed with fees. A recent success story is of a young student coming all the way from Pune for training at this institute. His father is a servant at a well to do family, earning a monthly salary of Rs. 3000/- only. Due to E-dutainment’s sponsorship and excellent training imparted, after completing his course in May ’06 this boy is at this time well placed with an earning of Rs. 30,000/- p.m. He has been able to change the living conditions of his family.

E-dutainment Unlimited has trained over 100+ deprived children so far with full sponsorship from its own funds, transforming many a families. If you want to contribute to this cause and make a difference in child’s life, please get in touch. Together we can do it.
